The Sidney Nolan Open brings together 60 artworks by 54 artists, selected from an international open call inspired by the restless creative spirit of Sir Sidney Nolan. The works span every medium, from drawing, painting and print to sculpture, photography, digital, performance and installation, including cross-disciplinary and collaborative practices.
Together, they explore human emotion and identity, and our relationship with society, landscape, the environment, plants and animals, themes that ran through Nolan's own work throughout his life.
The exhibition takes place across The Rodd's 18th century tithe barn gallery, historic outbuildings, gardens, orchard and surrounding farmland, all part of Sidney Nolan's former home in the Herefordshire countryside. Prizes for selected artists include a solo exhibition, artist residencies and one-to-one mentoring.
