Clare Jarrett - Snare

Stoneware and fabric 230 x 23 x 230 cm 2025 Clare Jarrett is based in Norwich. Using various materials and processes she is interested in exploring what is possible sculpturally. She works intuitively and playfully always underpinned by a strong drawing and note taking practice. Ideas and themes emerge which become clear as the work progresses. Creative decisions are made through dialogue with the raw stuff at hand and practical questions of construction are addressed. She was tutor at the Royal College of Art. She initiated the BA Illustration course at Norwich School of Art. She holds postgraduate qualifications in Illustration (RCA) and Creative Writing (UEA). While her children were growing up she wrote and illustrated five children’s books for them published by Walker books and Harper Collins. Sari Garden, a commission for Sculpture in the City, exhibited in Heneage Lane, London, from 2018 to 2020, was made in recognition of the uses, beauty and danger of the sari as a garment. A solo show, The Sorting Table, a large installation at The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth 2021 was an exploration of personal and family histories made during lockdown. Recently she attended MASS, Turps Arts school, and is a member of the artist collective Changeable Beast. She exhibits regularly.
