I am a visual artist exploring storytelling and personal narratives. My working class Irish roots have influenced my interest in storytelling. I studied in Glasgow where there was a strong tradition of figurative painting. I went onto study in Chicago following my interest in the Chicago Imagists. Later I did a residency in Hobart pursuing my interest in the Angry Young Penguins which included Sidney Nolan. I also did a Commonwealth scholarship to India to study narrative scrolls and glass painting. Twenty years ago I moved to Dorset to raise a young family. I have a studio practice which includes painting, drawing, print and animation I am also involved in community arts and in 2023 I was elected to be a Royal West of England Academician. I have been an AGBI steward for the RWA for the last 2 years which supports artists in need.
