Frankie Roberts works across a variety of mediums including video, sculpture, performance, installation, music and animation. She builds seductive cocoons using toy aisle colours, lulling harmonies and vivid projections in which to explore the murky depths beneath our the surface of our collective familiar. Frankie’s performative and video works combine regurgitated whispers of pre-existing audiovisual material with flamboyant quasi-human characters and voices. Her work often uses the instantaneous emotive pull of music as a decoy to engage with darker themes such as clinging on to hope in the throes of vengefulness, disembodiment and life’s exponential drift from innocence. Frankie has most recently performed/exhibited at the Horse Hospital, Beaconsfield Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery (with Plastique Fantastique), Photographer’s Gallery, Somers Gallery, IMT Gallery and London Short Film Festival.
