Olana Light’s practice moves between sculpture, performance, photography, and moving image, exploring the intimate relationship between humans and the natural world. Her work is driven by an ongoing exploration of belonging and the understanding that humans are not separate from nature, but an integral part of it. Through wearable sculptures made from natural materials, Light blurs the boundaries between body and landscape, examining how we both shape and are shaped by our environments. Her work invites audiences to witness moments of transformation, where the human form merges with natural elements to create a shared, interconnected “we-world.” These gestures reflect ideas of care, vulnerability, and ecological interdependence, offering an inclusive space for reflection beyond social divisions. Nature acts as both material and collaborator in Light’s practice, guiding her towards visions of coexistence and resilience. Through public performances and site-responsive works, she integrates art into everyday life, making it accessible to wider audiences and sparking conversations about ecology, identity, and our collective responsibility to the environments that sustain us.
