Rachael Mellors - Remmembrance 'But soft we are observed' and Remembrance 'My life and hard times'

Assemblages: discarded basement shutters of the family house, parents kept objects and their 1950’s penguin books, my body sculptures from fallen cliff clay 116 x 15 x 30 cm 2022 I studied Fine Art at Portsmouth and Ceramics at the Royal College of Art, receiving the RCA Drawing Prize. I live in Cornwall, spending several months in Greece. Current projects 'Embodied Earth' and 'Soul Ancestors' express my immersive and sensory encounters with a cliff and shoreline in Greece. 'Remembrance' explores ancestral imprinting. These projects, naturally evolving together, become a fusion of geological deep time and ancestral time, evoking the interconnectedness of all life. Artistic practice is rooted in natural cycles and processes, in synchronicity with the seasons, the sunrise, and the ecological and geological processes of erosion and regeneration. The works embody sustainability and the circular economy through materiality. Work published in - ‘What's Next? Eco-Materialism and Contemporary Art’, Artizein, Sustainability First and Ecologist&Resurgence. Recently exhibited - Art Biennial Venice, European Cultural Centre ‘Personal Structures - Beyond Boundaries’. Gallery for Sustainable Art Berlin ‘Light on your Feet’, ‘Beuys for Future’. Dartington Hall ‘Sentient Performativities’. Bermondsey Project Space ‘Reconnecting’.
